Fra il secolo diciannovesimo che sfugge evanescente e il secolo ventesimo che si affaccia.
Un uomo passeggia solitario con il suo cavallo fra le brume della selvaggia brughiera dello Yorkshire.
Sullo sfondo un'antica, decadente residenza sulla cima di una collina. Una stanza chiusa a chiave custodisce i segreti e i ricordi di un amore brutalmente tranciato dalla morte.
"When the fogs descend on the moor and the hill peaks around me hide from my sight, then I take my horse and, walking with him by my side, I venture through the hills wrapped by the fog.
My cold heart appears to be healed by the tender mist; in that it finds a relief, a shelter, a balm for its own wounds.
It seems that it fit perfectly with this remote, gloomy angle of the good old England.
On the contrary, sunny days'mirth, that reveals the truth upon every thing, pricks my heart like the sharp point of a diamond.
